

John Banovich, csc, BFM
Producer/Director
With 20 years of experience, John is an international, multi-award winning director and writer - having received Telly, Aurora, Clio, Gallat and Summit awards for his work. He is also the recipient of the 2008 Courage to Come Back award and of the distinguished Certificate of Honour from the House of Commons, Government of Canada. He has directed two feature films, as well as various documentaries, television series and numerous TV commercials.
From the remote depths of a rain forest to the inner walls of the Vatican, he has traveled the globe for his production endeavours. John and his work have been involved with the likes of CNN, Documentary Channel, Discovery Channel, MTV, MTV Europe, A&E, History Channel, EWTN, Vision TV, BBC, Bravo Television, CMT, Much Music, Global TV, and CTV.
One of John’s greatest loves is his family and an opportunity to spend time with his son. Another is his desire to venture into the wilderness for weeks at a time, especially with one of his HD cameras strapped to his back and his dog at his side. “It is untouched beauty as it was created to be”.

Chris Oben
Producer/Director of Photography
Chris Oben brings nearly 20 years professional experience as cinematographer and producer to the Green Earth Films team. An active member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, he specializes in high definition acquisition for drama, documentary, commercial and multi-media platforms.
Chris' technical competence, creativity and leadership have allowed him to head up crews both locally and internationally, having traveled as far abroad as Peru, Spain, Mongolia, South Africa and India. His work airs internationally and includes programs for Discovery US, Bravo! Television, Outdoor Life Network, Much Music, LIFE Network, WTN, Space Channel, and more.
Chris' passion for his craft is superseded only by his desire to help make the world a better place for his children and family. He is the proud father of four children and loves to spend time together exploring the great outdoors whether it's Okavango delta or the backyard.

Jim Karmann
Producer/Line Producer
Jim has a 14-year background as a production manager and line producer, specializing in extreme location productions and second unit production management. He has contributed to numerous feature film projects, such as “Seven Years In Tibet” and “Kundun”, as well as numerous award winning national and International Tourism campaigns.
He produced and directed “Trees” - the successful save the forest campaign - for The Friends of Clayoquot Sound. He also produced “My Backyard” - one family’s approach to sustainable living - hosted by news anchor Tony Parsons. He has a passion for fly-fishing, organic foods, community and sustainable living. All are part of an overall philosophy of living and working, in a meaningful way.

Joseph Schweers
Editor/Post Supervisor
Graduated at the top of his class, with highest marks and has been involved in the film industry for several years as an editor on many projects, including TV commercials, documentaries, corporate and promotional videos, as well as music videos. His work has been seen on Canadian television and at various film festivals, gaining him the recognition of a serious industry professional.
Joe spends his spare time skate boarding, exploring acres upon acres of forest in his backyard and a passion for photography with his vintage 70’s Canon.

Roderick Matte
Sound Specialist
Rod is a freelance location sound mixer with over 14 years experience in the professional audio industry for feature films, commercials and documentaries. Based in Vancouver, Roderick has worked on a broad range of domestic and international projects. His excursions have taken him through Europe, Africa, Scandinavia and South America.
Roderick equally enjoys hacking through the Amazon basin capturing the cry of Uakare monkeys to the bustle of rush hour traffic in Sao Paolo. His idea of fun includes day long bike rides, half day hikes and 4-hour badminton bouts.
